vitamin c and boric acid

if i take too much vitamin c i get mouth ulcers

i use to get mouth ulcers frequently as a kid because i loved grapefruit
and i had not made the vitamin c/mouth ulcer connection yet,
so i ate a lot of grapefruits growing up

i am sure that is what was causing my mouth ulcers
because i stopped getting them when i stopped eating eating grapefruit
but i will still get them if i accidentally take too much vitamin c

the doctor told Mom to have me put boric acid on the mouth ulcers
that hurt like heck, but when it stopped burning, the mouth ulcer was numb
i am not really sure it helped them heal any faster

never the less, it was worth the initial pain to numb out the misery of an ulcer
so i took a whole LOT of boric acid as a kid and even grew to like the taste of it

i now wonder if taking all that boric acid as a kid is related to the salivary stones i am getting under my tongue every time i take boron now
