Drs did 7 stool samples over a 20 month period 5 by dermatologist approx. 6 weeks apart ruled out parasites he thought I had hookworm referred to infectious disease . Infectious Dr had me do 2 the same week with an STD test because of (1 place these little bastards like). Wife wasn't a happy camper until it come back negative. I was told it was a protozoa virus causing my symptoms and was given more flagyl. Infectious Dr recommended me back to my dermatologist for care. I was following drs advice and prednisone was given by dermatologist . That's when my rashes went crazy. Doctors did stool samples before steroids. Vet did hers weeks later after having a full blown parasitic infection from steroids must have made her job easy. Blood tests were the normal CBC blood tests looking for what I don't know that's why we go to them. Didnt know about strongyles until vet explained. I didnt know what I had so I trusted professionals in the field of come back next week and don't forget your co-pay. Never went back to either Dr and went to see my Gen pract after what vet said for what to do next. Gen Pract was the one who ordered ELISA TEST. Tweet
