Re: Hi & Question For Somer

You would be surprised how many people do NOT understand what you have eloquently expressed. It is scary to see people undertaking sometimes a quite long fast without full understanding, and sad to read post after post of those who complete a good cleanse, then break badly, eat crazy and pack all the weight back on plus. This is not uncommon!

So, the answer to your very good question about the general negative tone in this forum about weight loss is... OF COURSE you lose weight fasting! You don't eat... you lose weight! BUT I (and many others) here on this forum truly hate to see someone waste their time and energy thinking Magic Bullet, just as you said. You may even know it intellectually, but the purpose of my tone, and I know that of many others, is to help prevent a big flop failure in your future. We are ALL in the same boat on this -- all of us are human, all of us fail. But if we can help even one person to prevent problems, it's worth a try.

I have lost plenty of weight fasting. NOTHING stores toxins like fat (if you are a cook, you know nothing holds flavors like good ole grease!). We MUST remove the old stubborn deposits of fat that are so dangerous to us! But people who do a long cleanse specifically to lose fat often underestimate the toxins they are releasing, rapidly, into their bodies, and how to help their bodies do this without hurting them! Then they pack it all back on, again rapidly, thus not only losing all the benefits of their hard work, but doing extra harm through rapid weight loss and gain. Bad bad bad.

So whether this applies to you or not... the warning is very well intended. After you do some cleansing, and BREAKING... you may find yourself joining in the warning! Strange but true: it is easier to fast than to eat well.

The good news is: we can be taught! (but we got to wanna!)

We are certainly here to support you in your goals, and wish you the very best. I continue to lose weight slowly but surely on my wonderful cleansing/rebuilding diet, and certainly enjoy wearing my size 10 dresses...

Let's all drink to health! (glug glug)

Best,
Somer
