Hi & Question For Somer
Hi Somer,
First of all I'd like to say that when I read through the messages here (and I went back 2 yrs) I found many of yours to be some of the most inspiring & informative. I know that you hear this all the time but I thought I should preface my post with my appreciation so that there is no misunderstanding in my posing this question to you as I do value your opinion.
I like your recommendations for being committed to a healthy lifestyle very much. But part of your reply intrigued me for another reason. I'm curious as to why you commented, "The
Master-Cleanse is truly NOT a weight loss diet..." When Burroughs states exactly the opposite on pages 13 & 14 of his book. He writes:
"As a reducing diet it is superior in every way to any other system because it dissolves and eliminates all types of fatty tissue. Fat melts away at the rate of about two
pounds a day for most persons—and without any harmful side effects.
Yes, the
Lemonade Diet is a reducing diet, but much more. Just as many other disorders also cleared up at the same time when it was used to heal ulcers, when it is used as a reducing diet other ailments are also corrected in the process."
Of course I realize that it is not a magic bullet but then no weight loss regimine is. I would think that most adults would understand this. And that they would know that they'd have to continue with & be dedicated to a very healthy lifestyle after mc'ing to feel/see the longetivity of it's benefits. Whether that means
juicing frequently, doing The Fat Flush Plan, Weight Watchers, excercisng more or following the
Master-Cleanse each & every month, I'm sure that many of these options & others are embraced & incorporated into many people's lives after following the MC.
I am doing the
Master-Cleanse for a variety of reasons with weight loss being one of them. My next comment is in no way referring to you. I did not know when I became a member here that I would be judged harshly for admitting to this. As I had read through many other messages where members had committed to the MC for solely this reason alone. And then others, when admitting that they are following the protocol for weight loss always preface their confession with, "I know I'm sorry I shouldn't use the MC for weight loss but...." Or something along those lines to avoid being admonished for their choice. I find this rather sad. No one should have to apologize for choosing the mc as a way to weight reduction. Especially when it is specifically & without any ambiguity stated to be just that in the Burroughs' book; a healthy & effective way to achieving & maintaining a healthy weight.
I find it quite odd that something which is very precisely addressed in
The Master Cleanse book is so negatively perceived on this board. Unhealthy weight is unhealthy. Many people are not losing weight as easily as they should do to the build up of toxins in their body & how these toxins have adversely affected their kidney, liver, gallbladder & thyroid. Although western med test results may indicate that one's liver, for instance, is functioning within the "normal" range in actuality it is not. It will take many many years before results would register liver damage. The time to act is now & get all that gunk out of their system before worse damage to body & spirit.
This will be the first time that I have completed a full 10 days on the MC. I have done many other cleanses before mainly
Hulda Clark s' & Arish & Shine. So although I am not speaking from much experience on mc'ing as this is only my 3rd attempt in 8 months & my first which will be 10 days (planning on 21-30 fingers & toes crossed ;~)I do understand about fasting, body cleansing, liver/gall bladder flushing etc...etc....However, I really do appreciate & value the insights of someone who has a lot of mc experience. I just don't understand what all the fuss is about when it comes to mc'ing & weight loss? It's bad enough that many of us do not have family & friends to support us when dedicated to mc'ing or any other fast, or special program for health & then to come to this site & find that you won't be supported for this choice is imho rather disheartening.
Thanks again for your time, experience & enthusiasm for living a lifestyle.

I'm not sure if the other member was wanting to use a modified mc for weight loss purposes but your reply intrigued me. I'm curious as to why you commented that, "The MC is truly NOT a weight loss diet..." When Burroughs states exactly the opposite on pages 13 & 14 of his book. He writes:
