Re: my path to healing lupus nephritis

Hello friend!

I just read this so I wonder how she is doing? Did she get the kidney biopsy done yet?

Often times Lupus patients will be prescribed immunosuppressant(s) such as Cellcept + a steroid such as Prednisone. Amount will have to depend on the person and severity of the case.

To better manage blood pressure and cholesterol, a couple of medications may be prescribed as well (for me, it is Losartan and Atorvastatin).

Since the immune system can be dangerously low, doctors may also prescribe preventative Antibiotics (in order to prevent infections, pneumonia, etc.) For me, I take Bactrim, and used to also take a couple others (I can't remember the names but if you want them I can look for you too).

When Lupus is a bit more stubborn, or does not respond to initial treatments, other immunosuppressants will be considered to add to treatment. For me it's Rituximab (like the lady from the beginning). There is also cytoxan (which is known for leaving women STERILE). There are plenty of unwanted side effects for any drugs, which are often times the lesser of two evils.

I would also recommend a strict diet of LOW PROTEIN and LOW SODIUM. NO red meats. Take vitamins and meditate. When you gain strength, start to do light exercise (walking, yoga, tai chi, etc.)

May you follow the Light where fear does not exist. Best of luck to you and your love! Also, see more than one doctor. You should always get a second, third, fourth, fifth, etc. opinion. Find someone who CARES about you, and is willing to SERVE you!

Love,

Holly H.
