Pretty sure I'm cured!
Hi everyone,
I've been waiting to see if it actually comes back, but it's been about 2.5 - 3 months and my lips have gotten gradually better and now they feel normal! It feels amazing to have normal skin again!!!
My story: A few years ago I went through a very traumatic time in my life and my lips began peeling. It may have been a bit different than some of your stories...they would burn and then peel - about a week cycle. For a while they were really bad and I would have red sores and then skin peeling off. But, for the past 6 months or so they seem to have been not as bad, but still slight burning and peeling and I was just managing like most of you are, with a certain lip balm that seemed to work.
I tried all kinds of diets and things from the doctor. Nothing really worked.
I'm not absolutely sure what has worked these past few months but the thing that started the healing I THINK was BAKING SODA. I know, weird, right? Well, and also Calendula Cream. I had been getting acne on my face and I read that using baking soda works. So one day I tried putting it on my lips and just leaving it on for a while. It started burning and after a few minutes I would wipe it off and then put the calendula cream on it. I used an all natural cream called Arbordoun's.
It slowly began to get better - and now, no more burning and peeling! Now, I have to say, that I've been doing a lot of other things also so there is no way to narrow this down scientifically. Here are some of the other things I've been doing:
Acupuncture
Taking bovine colostrum and rubbing it on my lips in the morning

I stopped eating grains for a while
So, there it is - I hope this helps someone. I don't know why baking soda would help except that it changes the alkaline/ acidity of your body and it helps to kill bacteria.
Let me know if you have questions.... I hope it lasts!!
