Not a Fan of Iodine Supplementation
My experience with large doses of Iodine:
None of my health problems cleared up. I suffered from reactive hypoglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and some other serious issues. Nothing got better.
I worked up to doses of about 200mg using 5%
Lugol's solution. I took these doses for a couple of years. Nothing good happened.
Some of the negative effects consisted of: jitters, anxiety, slightly colder body temperature, and severely dry skin to the point where chunks of it were coming off. Even after a couple of years of supplementation, the doses would make feel an overall sense of illness. This cleared up when I stopped supplementing.
A zero carb, extremely high fat diet is what I eventually used to fix my hypoglycemia. 90% of my diet is animal fat, 10% is animal protein. That is all I consume.
I am currently studying to become a biochemist, inspired by my wealth of health problems. In my studies and personal experiences, I have come to think that these higher doses of
Iodine are probably not the best course of action.
I have been reading over the
Iodine and
Iodine Debate Forums and have taken note of the negative effects seen. Personally, none of my health issues got any better. Even the ones that iodine is purported to help. Particularly the hyperinsulinemia.
Just my two cents.
