Re: VICIOUS CYCLE we are all in?SPURT RECOVERY
There's nothing educational about the article. The author of that article, is a chef, photographer and internet marketer who has no knowledge or experience to comment on the subject of the liver flush. She implies that the green coloration of the "stones" comes from the olive oil. I've seen that not to be the case by substituting oils, such as flaxseed oil, which has no green coloration. The "stones" still come out green. the only conclusion that can be drawn is that the green pigment is biliverdin, and any yellow coloration is biliverdin on the conversion path to bilirubin. So, regardless of whether the "stones" are, or aren't true stones, the oil/grapefruit juice mix causes the liver to respond by producing a lot of bile in a short period of time, and moving it through the digestive system quickly so it can't be reabsorbed. From Wikipedia "While typically regarded as a mere waste product of heme breakdown, evidence that suggests that biliverdin — and other bile pigments — has a physiological role in humans has been mounting.[4][5]
Bile pigments such as biliverdin naturally possess significant anti-mutagenic and antioxidant properties and therefore fulfill a useful physiological function.[5] Biliverdin and bilirubin have been shown to be potent scavengers of peroxyl radicals.[4][5] They have also been shown to inhibit the effects of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, heterocyclic amines, and oxidants — all of which are mutagens. Studies have even found that people with higher concentration levels of bilirubin and biliverdin in their bodies have a lower frequency of cancer and cardiovascular disease.[4]"
Although I can't really explain how the physiological benefits of the flush come about, I have mounted enough quantitative evidence on myself to know it works. So whether they are called "stones" or "blobs", or whatever doesn't really matter to me as long as I know it is not junk
Science in my case.
