Re: Friend just diagnosed WStage 4 Squamous cell carcinoma of the neck and throat. Need HELP !!!
Thanks so much everyone,
Paraz, You struck a chord when you said, "They will try to rush him into Chemo and radiation", which is my biggest fear. That is why I want him to have a list of intelligent questions, such as the one's Jessica provided, so, at the very least, his oncologist will know we are doing our homework and have no intention of John being treated like a piece of fast food.
I think I may be able to go to the oncologist with John today because of a small snowstorm that came through last night. It has me grounded for the day.
I am going to incorporate Jessica's questions into my own and wing it. The very first question on my list is, "If this were you, your wife, or one of your children, what course of action would you be taking". I intend to keep eye contact during his entire response. Everything else will fall into place after that.
The most difficult part will be trying not to be rude if the Doctor is not receptive to any suggestions/questions we have and tries a hard sell approach. Hopefully this is not the case, but with the clock working against us right now, I would expect the added pressure of him needing a prompt decision on John's part.
I will give everyone an update this evening, after the oncologist appt. I am sure that I will have more info on the basic, particulars of his condition, if nothing else.
Thanks again,
BuddyRo
