Re: I have aggressive periodontal disease
Here's the follow up post for all the paranoid google searchers who don't want to be left hanging
9 weeks ago I had a mouth full of 4s and 5s, couple 3s couple 2s. Bone loss in the canines and first molars. Lots of bleeding on probing, scary threats from the dentist. etc.
My appointment today which is 2 months later, I've done
6 weeks of oil pulling twice a day 20 min each
4 weeks of xylitol use 5 times a day
3 weeks of dilute hypochlorite pocket irigation evry other day
1 week of calcium/zinc mouthwash & 1/day carpule use from CTI
Flossed after every meal, brushed half hour later, water pick before bed everyday. So I averaged 3 brushings a day, 2 flossings, and 1-2 water pick cleansings.
Periodontist read all 3s and some 4s. More 3s than 4s, and some 2s in there. Very little bleeding on probing. Perio said it appears at this moment the disease has been arrested. But she diagnosed me with having had ANUG or acute necrotizing ulcerative gingivtis, not just perio disease.
My take - disease is still there hiding in some pockets, I can feel it, and the tissue around my canines is very tender and bleeds if I use the waterpick on it. I can also feel disease activity in some of my gums (because of the aggressive nature of this bacteria). But anyway so far this is great news. Still have some time ahead of me to figure out where things will go from here but if this is working for something like ANUG then it should definitely treat any ordinary gum disease
