I can't speak for the person who voted down your post, but your hurt came out in a strange thread, that had nothing to do with what you posted.
Sounds like you did not recover from what happened, nor found restitution. I'm sorry you had to go through something like that. Lost of trust is very damaging to the body of Christ in so many ways.
Of course there can be cover ups but most people do not want a pastor to get away with harming someone, and forgiveness is sometimes misunderstood. Remember that in a protestant church, the pastor is not in full control....the people are. The problem being that too many people want to give their pastor rock star status, when it is not the way it's suppose to be.
Right before I joined my own church, the pastor had an affair with a woman there. It was found out and dealt with among the leaders of the church. However, once the whole congregation found out, people had their own ideas and feelings about the situation. Half the church wanted him to step down, because they could not trust him to lead the church any longer....and the other half forgave him and wanted him restored to his postion.
Now everyone has to ask themselves...which way would you choose as a christian? It's hard sometimes to make these decisions. Since the church leaders decided to ask the pastor to leave, the other half of the church who forgave him, left as well. It can be very devastating to the body of Christ. So many hard feelings and disagreements all around and it takes years to recuperate. And no, it's not always about the money...unlike your case.
Most of the cases you posted about were about rape of children. In my churches' case, the woman was being counseled and could have held his postion against him, but she had feelings for him and did not want to press charges. The pastor's wife forgave him and they left the church together.
The reason I'm commenting to you is because of all of this truth movement is meant to clear out the bums and put in good people. Well, the problem being in my eyes, there are not enough good people to fill all the spots. I use the word 'good' people loosely here because, these good people normally do not get involved, because they know the pressure involved in these situations. They don't want any part of it....so why do we call them 'good'?
The way I see it, we are all at fault in some way or another. Until society changes as a whole, we will not see any change or relief. To my belief, it will not be until Jesus returns again to rule as King of Kings, Lord of Lords.
We will be glad to pray for your situation if you need spiritual healing in that area. God bless.
