Re: Flush #15; Tragedy Strikes!

I don't quite agree with the whole "understandings come only when we are ready for them" school of thought. That implies that there is some loving patient force just letting us suffer blindly until we are "ready". It also implies a linear causality of experience, learning, and growth, which can't be relevant since our conscious is non linear.

Ask yourself- if your daughter was about to get hit by a truck would you wait until she "learned her lesson" and was ready for "understanding" why she had to get mauled over, or would you jump in and push her out of the way? Common sense I do believe. Why would we treat ourself any different?

I also don't agree that the forces that have power over us only do so because we allow them. That's like new age fantasy to make people believe they are free or empowered, and keep us complacent and happy in our cubicles as we watch "the secret" and say positive affirmations in our head.

Is it so far fetched that an alien predatorial force could and Is exerting control over us whether we allow it or not? Look how we shred off a lettuce leaf to make a salad. Ruthless disregard for the lettuce plants well being wouldnt you say? And is it "allowing" us to control it thusly? Doubtful, since they have those tiny thorns to keep predators from eating them.

Now I may not be "allowing" anything, but it doesn't mean I don't have any vulnerabilities in my defenses. That is a much more apt way to put it.
