Ingrown Problem

I am surprised this forum is not more active. Over the past year I have been having a continuous ingrown toenail on my right foot...with my left foot threatening to follow suit.

I have had a doctor cut it back twice...but it just grew back, east time a little faster. And he is making noises about cutting part of the nail off completely.

Blueduck's advice is very good (down below) as just yesterday I tried filing it down after a soak, and it feels better today. Not great, but better. I will be more aggressive with it next time. I will also try using a cotton pack at night.

I have bought an ionic foot bath, and I am hoping that will help me with this and with the toenail fungus I also have...although I don't thing that the fungus is causing the ingrown problem, as I have had it for years with the nail not bothering me.

What I am wondering is, what is my body trying to tell me? Why, at 66, is this toe nail suddenly ingrowing?
