Just switched from ARL to Trace Elements Lab
We just had our older htma tests sent over and interpreted by a TEI practitioner. I got almost the complete opposite treatment protocol and diet suggestions than from ARL.
I have never really followed the exact ARL dietary recommendations. I was told that I should eat a low carb, lean protein and low fat diet(slow oxidizer). I never really did this as I am on the Paleo diet which just works great for me. If a person is eating low carb(high veg) than they have to increase fat in order to get their calories from somewhere. TEI has me as a fast oxidizer. Go figure!
TEI suggests the exact diet that I have been on for the past 18 months. I am told to eat a high purine diet with liver, kidney, heart, sardines, tuna, clams, crab, lobster and oysters. These should constitute 33% of daily caloric intake. I feel so good when I eat these foods. ARL wanted me to avoid these foods.
TEI also suggest an increase an increase of milk products, nuts and seeds and foods high in fat. These should constitute 33% of caloric intake. The full fat goat kefir is about the only dairy that I can handle at this time but I am onto my 3rd week with great results. I also eat about 3 eggs per day. Yes that is 28 eggs per week. Now that summer is here I have discontinued the bone broth/raw egg/butter and
Sea Salt drink. So my egg consumption will drop to 21 eggs per week.
Increase high copper foods and potassium foods. I also notice how good I feel when I eat avocado, tomato and oranges.
Both labs agreed that I should be on a low carb diet.
I have had a low copper level ever since I started. I will be starting a copper supplement as well as taking more magnesium and potassium. This just confirms what I have been doing on my own the last month. Intuitively I managed to put together the diet and supplement program that I should be eating anyway.
If I don't get the copper to a normal level than I will never get rid of these chronic infections that I have been dealing with(lyme). My zinc is always between 18 - 20. Zinc/copper ratio is normally around 16 and normal is 8. TEI is giving me very little zinc and very little calcium as I really don't need it.
My son and hubby are now on totally different protocols for the 4 lows. They also have been given the same dietary suggestions that I have been given.
I am very relieved about all of this as I was concerned about the boys and their continued decline in energy and stamina. This never made sense to me.
Not everyone is copper toxic. I am so tired of hearing about copper toxicity on these forums. I also think it is dangerous and missleading. Some of us are copper and potassium deficient and need totally different protocols. I have noticed how much stronger I feel the last month after taking a liquid potassium supplement.
I just wanted to share this information. I never imagined that these two labs could be more different with their protocols. They actually have completely opposite 4 low protocols.
Best always!
