i think this is exactly what he has described and other ways too. and this is how he has layed out the basics - get a sweat up so that circulation is elevated and then pour cold water from the navel and dripping off the rear. and yes, he has said there are many variations and to experiment with it to see what works for you, within the parameters of the basics.
i have done mine by wading out into a freezing pond after a hot bath, positioning my butt under the tub faucet after the hot water let out, and yesterday i lay baking under the sun and used the hose. oh, yea!!!!!!!
