Re: fluorine-chlorine-bromine-iodine
For over three months I was eating some roasted seaweed chips everyday. I didn't think that much about it, but figured I could be eating enough to be pulling heavy metals out of my body so I was taking chlorella to be sure to capture it. I had read about bromide detox and that it wasn't very pleasant, but I guess I had assumed that I needed to take in more
Iodine to detox. Big mistake. I was feeling worse and worse. (I've been seeing a functional medicine doctor for the past year to clean up my system. I've been suffering from Chronic Fatigue.) It occurred to me after all that time that maybe bromide was an issue....sure enough, I had a BUNCH of bromide loose in my bloodstream, interfering with utilization of magnesium! My calcium level was way off balance (parathyroid issues) and I had been having problems with digestion so was taking lots of digestive enzymes. Interestingly enough, my salt craving got so intense I couldn't believe how much salt I was eating on my food, but it tasted good.
I did some serious salt loading, ionic foot baths, and salt soaking for the new few days and I felt much better. Its been a week now and I'm in much better shape with energy. I still have plenty of fatigue, but I can function again and my pancreas is producing digestive enzymes again! My salt appetite is back in the "normal" range (heavy rather than intense.)
My doctor suggested that I stay off the seaweed for a couple of weeks. I just love those chips and I figure part of the reason has to be
Iodine deficiency. I looked it up and I was probably consuming 30mg to 50mg of
Iodine a day, sometimes more. Perhaps iodine from food is more effective than supplemental iodine. Perhaps I'm just that toxic. I wouldn't be surprised. I'm glad I can enjoy a treat while I get what I need though. I'll be sure to do the salt loading along the way, though!
