According to TCM, the eyes are closely related to the liver.
My guess is then, that Iodine highlighted a problem, kind of detox when old patterns and imbalances show up.

The most frequent iodine-eye symptom is burning, red eyes; seen numerous times at this board. I have seen it in a couple of cases myself. This is a trancient phase, bromine related.

I am not the most experienced when it comes to CS, so I leave this for others.
However; borax-water is great for eye infection; take the symptoms away in minutes / hours at most. It was used since Hippocrates` time and used in most eye-drops even today. Easy to make your own; Clean, body temp water with 4,5 % borax. Tweet
