Re: Need diet advice

Cyclo,

While your dr is well meaning she knows virtually nothing about diet and exercise.

First please read a very important book, DR. BERNSTEIN'S
DIABETES SOLUTION.

Second, try walking 2x/day. Start slow, 10 minutes per session and move up to at least 1/2 hour or more. Walking twice a day increases your metabolism better than just one longer session.

Next, try eliminating things from your diet one at a time. First anything with added Sugar (read labels). Then you can move on to reducing carbs like bread etc. and then fried foods and other junk items.

Prepare in advance. It takes a lot of work but work together with your husband and you will see results.

My DH was raised on Hispanic foods for most of his life. He has managed to completely turn around his diet. He is in his 70's but enjoys bs in the 85-105 range on a daily basis. His dr still wants to give him Metformin. He refuses, says there is no reason.

If you make your health your #1 priority you will find the time and wherewith-all to do what you need to do to get your numbers down.

Hang in there, don't give up and don't give in. Here is a great article explaining how and why diabetic medication eventually fails http://www.wellnessresources.com/tips/articles/insulin_leptin_and_blood_sugar...
