I've been eating a TON of natural sugars since going low fat and higher fruit. I've even been adding organic brown and evaporated cane Sugar to my smoothies to get extra carbs and calories and my blood Sugar tests in the perfect range every time afterwards. Not even sure why I test my blood Sugar anymore!
Yes, eat as much as you want. Fat is the only thing you want to keep on the low side.
I've been eating mostly fruit up until the evening (I do mix greens in my morning smoothie) then I eat Macrobiotic, as much as I comfortably can. Do either style, or combining it like I do is fine, as long as your reach your minimum calorie requirements.
Practice listening to your body. If you get a sweet tooth, eat simpler carbs like fruit. If you feel hungry, but not necessarily craving sweets, it just means your body wants more calories, so just eat whatever wholesome to feed your body more calories.
With this diet, you really can't over-eat in terms of calories as long as you keep your fat intake low (10-15%).
