Fuchs corneal dystrophy

My sister in her mid-60’s is recently diagnosed with Fuchs corneal dystrophy. Our mother had cataract surgery and in a short time developed corneal problems. Since this is said to be genetic, my sister is really worried that if she have a transplant the anti-rejection drugs will affect the immune system which is not good since she had cancer in the past. Was wondering if any had some insight on this specific problem.
Thanks
