Definitely sounds like a mold related issue. Get rid of that AC, but it's probably everywhere - whether you can see or smell it or not. Are you able to purchase an ozone generator? Are you in an area where you can find an MD specializing in Environmental Illness?

Please do the most you can to follow an anti-fungal (mold) regimen.
