severe lower back pain while water fasting
I have been lurking for a year and found so much good information, so thanks to everyone who has posted in the fasting forum.
I am on day 6 of distilled water fasting. Beginning on day 4 my lower back has been so painful I can barely make it through the days. I don't have back problems or kidney issues that I know of. I have a high tolerance for pain, but my capacity for loss of sleep is low and I haven't slept for more than a few minutes at a time in over 48 hours. At this point I'm beyond exhausted despite spending nearly every hour in bed. No position relieves the pain. Soaking in a hot bath does wonders as long as I'm in the water. I can't sleep in my tub - I tried!
The pain comes in waves but never really stops. It reminds me a lot of labor, it radiates around my hips, but doesn't cause uterine contractions. I tried laying on a back massage thing and it was worse. My husband rubbed my back for awhile this morning and that provided some relief, but he cannot rub me continuously. If the pain weren't on both sides I would think I had kidney stones. The thought of enduring this for another day is tolerable, but a week? I couldn't do it. I don't care for pain pills but right now I would just about give my left arm for some relief.
Any thoughts or suggestions? This isn't my first fast, but I've only done short ones of 3 and 5 days in the past. I was hoping to go 14-30 days this time because I have the time for bed rest.
Thanks for reading.
