Re: Muscle wasting anyone?

"Pure vata types will be very skinny, maybe don't like eating or don't care about eating, they tend towards being nervous and suffering from anxiety when vata is elevated."

This is excellent. That describes me to a T.

I tend to "listen to my guts" lately. I used to eat a lot of raw, cold things-salads, juicing fruits, raw veggies as snacks-but I didn't feel right, and wasn't digesting the raw foods well. The juicing is what made the candida go nuts, well that and once in a while I'd get lazy and not clean the juicer well...it would get mouldy. I'd wash it but not well enough I don't think.
Anyway, I've started to eat steamed veggies and pre-soaked, cooked almond meal and millet cereals.
My digestion has been much better.

Many times vata types will suffer from low stomach acid and poor digestion, so it is recommended to add hot spices like cayenne or other red pepper (if you can tolerate them, black pepper is also helpful) and digestive spices like cumin, fennel and coriander as these will increase digestive fire and stimulate bile flow to improve digestion in the intestines.
I have been eating spicy things by coincidence, and I DO have low stomach acid and I suffer from poor digestion. I mean I wasn't going everyday. Some times 2 days would pass. I was married to my enema bag. Since I've been taking HCL, good probitics and triphala, my transit time has *much* improved.
I was seeing a ND but she was more interested in getting me to gain weight by eating 2 avocados a day and 4 TBS of coconut oil a day, and selling me supplements. I wanted to talk about cleansing and candida. I stopped seeing her.
I believe the excess copper intake caused the melasma I have now, as avocado is very high in copper. Since I've stopped eating so much avocado the melasma is fading.
When I stopped the coconut oil drinking and excessive avocado consumption I started to gain weight again. I can't get past 120, but I have always been that skinny. Well, except after I had a child. I was 200 lbs for a year or two after.

Thank you so friggin' much for your reply, it is extremely helpful. Thank you, thank you!
