Re: I've been cured of cheilitis for 3 and half years using a simple and cheap method.

firstly can you upload some pics of when your ec was at it worse and can you upload a pic of your lips now. if you got nothing to hide and your telling the truth you will gladly upload some pics.

No pictures, sorry. I didn't take any pictures directly of my lips when I had cheilitis. As for what they look like now, they just look like regular healthy lips.

second. what happens if you stop licking your lips and apply no moisturizer for a few dayss>?????

I'll quote what I said in my first post, "Now, I can go weeks, even months with out applying lip balm. If it did become chapped, (either because I pick my lips out of old habit or I hadn't used the balm in a while) it was only lightly chapped, that is to say it wasn't the tiny specks of dead skins and bloody cracked lips that I previously had, it was just a few dead skin here and there. But then all I needed to do was lick my lips, apply cocoa butter, and my lips would be fine." To clarify further, cheilitis is a thing of my past. Of course, my lips will become chapped more easily if I'm in a harsh dry climate, or if I pick at them, but that's the same for anyone else with no EC.

thirdly. i agree with healing licking your lips dries them out. i dont think licking your lisp maybe 3 or 4 times a day like a normal person but licking your lips 40-50 times a day thats hectic."

I also agree that licking your lips will dry them out, especially for a person with EC. However, applying cocoa butter (or perhaps shea butter? avocado oil? I haven't tried those) right afterwards seems to conceal the saliva on the lips. I only did it 30 - 40s times *on my first day* because that was how quickly my lips would dry out, and I'm not sure what the exact number would be for anyone else. By the end of the first week I had to apply it once every two or three hours. And at the end of the first month, I applied saliva/cocoa butter only a couple times a day. The rate at which I applied was based on how quickly my lips would dry out. Another thing, I believe my EC was gone after the first two weeks, that is to say there wasn't a peeling cycle, nor tiny flakes, or any white build up after showers. Nonetheless, I continued applying it liberally to make sure it wasn't a fluke, and well, my lips did look really nice after doing it. Also, I've been going through a lot of messages on this forum pertaining to the idea that EC could be a viral, bacterial, or fungal disease. Isn't it possible that saliva is related to curing this? I posted links to sources on saliva being a natural healing agent here - http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1985737#i

One more thing, it's fine if you don't take my word because I didn't post any pictures. But it's not like I'm telling anyone to go buy something expensive or undergo an elaborate treatment. It costed me around $2.50 for the brand of cocoa butter I used and I had pretty quick results. And like I said in my first post, I simple don't know if this method will work for other people. But it did for me. Another user jp20 used a similar method, and it cured him as well.
