Some suspect fungal involvement in Psoriasis and years ago I saw posts in a Yahoo group (not sure anymore...) of people who used borax and got cured.  It's cheap and safe to use on the skin if dissolved properly so I would try it, it did cure a stubborn case of scalp flaking that was not ordinary dandruff.
