Re: Rectal itch for 10+ years

Hello MamaB,

I have been suffering with the exact same condition and was ever more concerned now that the itching seems to have spread to the same area of the skin above the clitoris. I am in my 50's and have never had children but have recently entered menopause in the last couple of years. My condition seems to have escalated the last four years and spreading the last couple of months. I, too, had skin condition issues, some type of dermatitis..hives, rashes.. but thought that I have somehow recovered or developed immunity to them and have had excellent health and take no medication. I did also take Antibiotics for a full year as a child, and then in 1992 I took Antibiotics for 4 months after inadvertently drinking a contaminated beverage while traveling in India. I had chronic bad breath for over 10 yrs from around 1997-2007..and now I believe that Antibiotics had affected my system. I'm happy to say I have somehow been able to overcome this by eating well (more veggies, less junk), taking probiotics and considering alternative treatments whenever possible.

I also thought that it was some type of std that I wasn't aware of or has been elusive to testing. Somehow I don't think it's an yeast condition. Having read your message, I think it sounds more like dermatitis, aggravated by perhaps moisture? So fungus may affect it as well. But it's alarming when it's spreading. Other things that I thought may be causing this condition.. I drink coffee and white wine almost daily, color my hair, take walks in the park daily. I also have been taking Kyolic and megadophilus for the last few weeks.
I had been drinking diluted apple cider for the last couple years which eliminated my hot flashes and have experienced no other menopause-related condition.

I do find temporary relief with anal itching from one or a combination of the following.. organic apple cider vinegar (stings but reduces swelling and itching), castor oil, calendula ointment, vick's vapor rub. But I am searching for a cure.

I believe I must be allergic to something I am eating or exposed to in my environment or it could be parasites. Thanks for posting. I know I'm not alone.
