The fact that XMRV isn't a real human pathogen does not of course mean that your symptoms are all in your mind. ME/CFS is a recognised real neurological disease, if that's what you've been diagnosed with. The latest thinking and research indicates that it may be an autoimmune disease that can be triggered by several different viruses. This is also likely the case with multiple sclerosis. VIPdx's XMRV tests were withdrawn as they were shown to be totally inconsistent in the blood working group study. RedLabs were using the same test that they licensed from VIPdx. Perhaps there is another retrovirus or virus that causes the condition and will one day be discovered. There is a big study searching for different pathogens in ME/CFS patients that it is underway.
