New Testament Living

Of the first fruits, ye shall offer them unto the Lord. Leviticus 2:12

Most Christians know the Bible has an Old Testament and a New Testament. But many are not aware that there is a vast difference in Old Testament and New Testament living.

In the Old Testament you received first, then you gave. To teach God's ownership, God did things for people and after they received they were to give back to Him. It was a debt. You owed it. You owed God your time...the sabbath; you owed Him your money...the tithe. Everything was something you owed to God. But the debt was insurmountable; man could not pay it. God sent His Son to pay the debt. He gave Jesus. When Jesus went to the cross and paid our debt by giving himself, He opened up a whole new dimension of love and giving. It makes all the difference!

This is a whole new framework of living! You can no longer give to God to pay a debt because Christ has already paid it. You come out of the Old Testament with its heavy requirements into the joy of New Testament living. You give not as a debt you owe, but as a seed you sow!
