Hi James, i'm just curious about the ingredient in your bone-joint formula: Vitamin C crystals
maybe i'm wrong, but, it is not the same as synthetic ascorbate acid?
i think there are some reasons for it's use
i'm just curious about it cause you always say that vitamin C in most of natural forms (excpt camu camu) contain synergistic compounds that protect this antioxidant from oxidation.
There are natural vitamin C sources in the formula as well because I do not use the ascorbic acid for the vitamin C activity. It is actually added as an acidifier to help increase absorption of the nutrients in the formula. The vitamin C in the herbs does not always provide the acidity since the vitamin C is generally buffered by the minerals in the plants. When I first started making the formula I did not have access to other acidifiers such as malic acid so I went with the ascorbic acid.
