I agree that the OP needs more reading/researching based on the questions asked. Anything can be dangerous in absence of moderation and knowledge of supporting supplements. I would never pretend about one size fitting all, or the very thing wrong with medical science.
For instance, many vitamins, minerals and aminos have agonistic relationships (d3-K, magnesium-calcium, taurine-carnosine etc) that can allow balance to become lost... sometimes the results can be deadly. ALA and carnitine also have a special relationship.
However, I'm not worried about the reaction of ALA in a healthy liver, especially when prepping your body with supporting supplements like those previously mentioned. Certainly if one possesses a toxic liver, they have more problems than a single flush could ever fix.
