Great questions! Re: IF#2 Question
When I'm examining & researching the herbal blends that these great healers used to help heal thousands of people (many of which who were on 'death's doorstep' when they started using them), I always start with the 'knowingness' that if they caused any type of substantial harm (or impeded healing), the people using them wouldn't have gotten better - they would have gotten worse! Those products would have flunked 'the test of time'. That helps me in my research when I run across "scientific data" that indicates one/more of the ingredients 'causes harm', because that way I'll dig even deeper to try to learn why 'science claims harm', but 'experienced healers claim healing'. Also to note, products like IF#2 were NOT designed for 'marketing purposes', they were created by 'healers with a heart for healing' in a clinical situation soley for the purpose of healing. If they didn't work, the patients in the clinic did not achieve healing or relief, and the 'product' would have been abandoned (or upgraded/changed).
I'm THE first to look for all the negative aspects of anything & everything because I believe it's far better to 'identify potential negatives' and avoid falling into pits than to 'blindly believe' and then fall into them. I know that 'identifying potential negatives' is one of the most positive things we can do! but I also know if "scientific data" yielded "the truth" about herbs, healing substances (AND the synergy of the blends), we wouldn't have to be researching much at all! Onward...
--The benefits of psyllium to the body and liver are actually quite substantial!
-- I know of at least study done on whether or not activated charcoal adsorbs natural vitamins/minerals, etc. From here: http://www.naturalnews.com/028461_activated_charcoal_medicine.html#ixzz1r13XWrRp (a must read article)
>>>This comes from the 1980 book Activated Charcoal by David O. Cooney: "Charcoal added to the diet of sheep for six months did not cause a loss of nutrients, as compared with sheep not receiving charcoal. ... A level of 5 % of the total diet was given as charcoal. It did not affect the blood or urinary levels of calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, inorganic phosphorus, potassium, sodium, zinc, creatinine, uric acid, urea nitrogen, alkaline phosphatase, total protein or urine pH." <<<
--There are many animals that consistently find sources of clay & charcoal and consume them regularly. Somewhere in 'my archives' I have the documentation (I may have a video) of at least one species whose diet includes vegetation that includes poisonous vegetation (and could kill or harm them)...but the animals always consume clay or charcoal when eating it.
--Psyllium is fat free. I can't imagine the fat content in the extremely small amount of flax seed coming into play as 'fat affecting the liver'. There are 17 "parts" in IF#2, only two of those parts are flax seed. So, 2/17th of a teaspoon 'per dose' (5 doses = a little over 1/2 of a teaspoon). My understanding is that the flax seed is there to increase the mucilaginous properties of the blend (and fiber). I can't imagine what else 2/17th of a teaspoon of flax seeds could possibly add as far as nutrition or fat.
--The psyllium does benefit the liver, by taking some of the energy/stress burden off of it's daily "cholesterol processing & balancing" Psyllium not only lessens bad cholesterol but raises good cholesterol in clinical studies. This is very beneficial for the prevention of liver/gallbladder congestion and lessening of 'cholesterol stones'). Other benefits of psyllium? Here's a list I just compiled of many of the known and/or traditional uses:
High cholesterol
Diarrhea
High blood sugar
Inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis)
Irritable bowel syndrome
Fat excretion
Obesity
Abscesses
Anal fissures
Boils
Bronchitis
Cancer
Clogged arteries
Colon cancer
Cystitis (bladder inflammation)
Gallbladder disease
Gallstones
Heavy menstrual bleeding
Hemorrhoids
High blood pressure
Incontinence
Inflammation of the urethra
Leishmaniasis
Mucus membrane irritation
Psoriasis
Stomach ulcers
--Then there's the "anti-psyllium preachers", pulpit-pounding about how it 'rips up' the intestines, despite empirical evidence & truth :::eyeroll::: Yes, there was a monkey study where they fed lord-only-know-how-much psyllium for lord-only-knows-how many months (likely non-organic psyllium...which comes from India where DDT is used) to monkeys and ended up "proving" that psyllium damages the intestines. Wait, I'll go see if I've got it bookmarked or can find it. Here it is: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3031252
OMG...SERIOUSLY!???! How much did they feed the monkeys? TEN PERCENT OF THEIR DIET! For how long?...not 3 1/2 weeks or even 3 1/2 months...but 3 1/2 YEARS! And now you know how one "scientific" clinical study creates a total lie out of a healing truth! And there are THOUSANDS of those lies deeply embedded into the minds of even the most 'natural' of preachers & teachers (and students). If a healer with extensive clinical experience with an herb (or herbal blend) indicates that it is safe, and we hear/read that it is not...??? If I had no internet or nary a book, I'd trust the healer...because my 'personal hobby' (and much of my education) was devoted to learning & understaning how a mind/society can be conditioned & brainwashed so intensely that even the most intelligent minds will refuse to even consider the actual truth. And once someone has believed those lies and 'preached them publicly', there's even less of a chance they'll consider the truth - because now their egos & self-esteem are involved.
MD's hurt & kill people all the time because of their personal (societal, educational) brainwashing & conditioning, but it's rare you'll ever find one admitting or dealing with it. That's not because of a lack of intelligence, but because they (us too) have all been brainwashed to believe what is 'most common' and 'most scientific' MUST be truth...and once they've acted on those lies and based their life, career, self-esteem AND ego behind it - there's no WAY their ego will allow them to 'crack the door' to even sneak a peek. This is also true of ND's, alternative scientists and even 'natural healing' preachers & teachers.
Bottom line - we've all been trained that being "wrong" (incorrect) is the same thing as being BAD! Nobody wants to be bad, so no one risks being "wrong"...even though the truth is, that being proven to be incorrect is one of the greatest blessings we (and our world) can experience. When others prove (or we prove to ourselves) that we are incorrect, we get to replace a lie with a truth. Doing that is ego gratifying AND incredibly empowering!
Oops, 'got off on a lil' rant there - but methinks it's good information for sharing :)
Heal ON!
