Hi dear! I know exactly what you are going through! I'm 5 1/2 months post removal. It took 3 months for me to get my period and once I did it was hell. I have had the following symptoms since having mirena and i'm 25 years old : insomnia(up to three days of no sleep not even 5 min) panic attacks, anxiety, heart palpitations, suicidal thoughts, itchy burning skin, hot flashes and night sweats. I'm currently seeing a hormone specialist. It is my understanding that for many women Mirena and any other synthetic hormones found in contraceptives do harm. mirena does alot of harm being it suppresses your period and ovulation. I have done ALOT of research as well and synthetic/fake progesterone know as progestin suppresses hormone receptors so when you get mirena removed and the fake hormones wear off you are left with no progesterone and progesterone is our happy, calming hormone. it also activates our GABA receptors in the brain which aids in the production of seretonin(happiness) I'm on hormone replacement therapy because of my issues with mirena. But bioidentical hormones(those are natural hormones identical to what our bodies naturally make) I'm feeling better than I did but you have to make sure you exercise, eat healthy and get additional nutrients/supplements because you need all these things to help heal what mirena has depleted. I highly recommend natural progesterone cream. Here is a link for a website I found VERY helpful progesteronetherapy.com If you have any more questions or just want to talk let me know. I know how alone you can feel :) Take care hon and there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
