I don't think much of the e-mail. All that is really said in regards to Bifidobacterium is "Oh, my yes! Bifidus can cause tremendous trouble! I understand GAPS's reasoning, that a normal gut has many kinds of good bacteria in there, but the problem is, WE have got bad ones that have overgrown. And bifidus, for one, is one that tends to overgrow pretty easily."
No mention of what problems supposedly occurred. Nor any evidence that the Bifidus had anything to do with anything. Also keep in mind that as the other link I posted shows that Bifidobacterium are the normal dominant flora species.
This is like someone with fatigue reading somewhere that fatigue can be caused by anemia so they attribute their fatigue to anemia with no proof whatsoever. And while ignoring the fact that there are numerous causes for that same symptom including adrenal or thyroid dysfunction, some medications, diabetes, congestive heart failure, COPD, nutritional deficiencies, etc.
