Re: gaps
The majority of my diet is "normal foods"....
The only thing unnatural is rice protein powder and rice cakes. But I am phasing them out.
A typical day looks like this for me:
meal 1:
4-6oz homemade green veggie juice
1 organic brown rice cake
2.5 TB rice protein powder +1 TB coconut butter mixed with 1/2 TB almond butter (add a bit of water to make into a spread to put on top of the rice cake... it's essentially a protein-packed nut spread)
Meal 2:
Stir fry: 3oz chicken breast, steamed veggies, avocado/pea non-bean "hummus" (used as a "sauce"), spices, 1 TB VCO,
Sea Salt
Meal 3:
Same as meal 1 without the juice
or
2-3 jumbo soft boiled eggs, maybe some carrots
meal 4:
Same as meal 2, but with turkey breast
I like the theory and practice of GAPS/SCD...they allow more variety, nourishment, and healing. I also plan on adding fermented foods like raw sauerkraut, and if tolerated, coconut water kefir and 24hr fermented goat yogurt.
I have found that grains cause me major issues, as do fruits/honey/sugars.
