When you say 'scary' what do you mean exactly? How painful ?

my first dry fasts my kidneys hurt as well, but it was not very painful, felt more like they were healing, more of a strong ache.

I noticed that my kidney on one side would ache, then it would be ok and then a while later the kidneys on the other side would ache. I thought that maybe the body heals one at a time.

I thought the aching was more the pain of healing rather than being overloaded with toxins, so it maybe good, although I might be wrong.

On my second or third 'weekend' dry fast my right kidney suddenly had a shock like it had been stabbed by a sharp instrument connected to a power supply, my whole body jerked violently and the pain reverberated through my body - I think it must have been a big lump of kidney that was knackered and the immune system decided to get rid of it - ever since then my health has felt a lot better.
