Re: Why are Spiritual Fasts more effective?
Hi Julian. Yes that would be scary and this is normal in a sense. First any fasting with juice, water or dry will cause inner detox and memories surfacing. The clearing of the mind is a powerful thing.
A spiritual fast would be one followed by religious preference. So lets say the Catholics fast a half day and then break their fast. They fast because they want to find pleasure with God. Muslims fast the entire day and break their fast at sunset. Sufi fast all the time and want to find pleasure of Allah.
So all the above are fasting for a reason other than the elimination of illness and weight. When you begin fasting start out slow. Do not do three days at a time. Go for one day. If you cannot do one day then do half the day. Wait a few days and then do two days. It is never adviseable to do a long fast without practice and unnecessary.
So the way to do the fast is to get up one hour before your fast begins and have a light meal such as tea and some toast or some yogurt and cucumbers. Nothing fried, no meats and nothing sugary.
If you are religious pray first and ask for help and then begin your fast. Do nothing that takes exertion. Rest the day. I sleep a lot on fasting days. Reserve your energy and then plan your meal out when you break your fast. It is not necessary to break your fast like you would if you were on a month long
Water Fast with juice.
We break our fast with dates and if dates are not available then we break it with water, juice or milk and then we eat a normal meal. It is a waste of time if you eat nothing but unhealthy foods but you do not have to eat broth and fruit.
Fasting is wonderful and very important for anyone who wants to be in the best health. It is a way to rest your intestines. Learn about food combining and you will know more about how meats clog up your intestines for three days. Always eat fruits first. Never eat meat with rice and potatoes. Eat meat with veggies. Eat rice with veggies. Don't mix sour and sweet fruits. Get the picture?
Well seeing the light is a blessing and having any near death experience may be calling you to fasting more often.
