Re: Question about black demodex

Avoid the toothpaste like the plague, honey! Flouride and SLS are two main ingredients in most commercial toothpaste and the mites feed off of both. I can't believe I forgot to mention this, but I quit all fluoride before I started my mite-killing spree. I also eliminated all SLS (Sodium Laureth Sulfates) in any cosmetics (mostly it's in shampoos and body washes). The mites literally thrive on these two things. (I'm such an idiot for not bringing this up before...I'm so sorry.) And find out if your tap water is fluorinated. That could be a HUGE reason why you're not seeing an improvement. If it is and if you can swing it, get a water softener or ask your landlord to do so (if you rent).

Luckily, I live in the boondocks and my town doesn't put fluoride in their water.

Also, it's difficult to find toothpaste that doesn't have Fluoride, but it's more difficult to find one that doesn't have SLS in it. I've been making my own toothpaste out of coconut oil, peppermint oil, and baking soda.

Right now my face has cleared up quite a bit but it's like I'm always waiting for it to flare up again. However, I can tell with every breakout that it is seeming to get better. I just wish I could avoid the scarring. And I hear you, I'm a pretty girl, too, but I have avoided certain social gatherings simply because I feel like I look like a pizza face. I know it isn't as bad as I think it is to other people, but it really bothers me. I'm 36 and have the skin of a 14 year old adolescent.

Another thing that I think I may have stumbled across...I believe that we need to kill the eggs, not just the adults, and I think that I may have found the thing to do just that: Clove Oil. I was reading about demodectic mange in dogs, and also human scabies, and apparently clove oil kills the larvae and eggs of both critters. I thought, "Well, why not try it on my face?" I already have every essential oil known to man in my possession, so I put two drops of clove oil in a tablespoon of coconut oil, mixed it up really well, and slathered it on my face. I won't know for about a week if it is killing the eggs or not, but I'll certainly let you know. OH! And I also saturate my face in Hydrogen Peroxide before I put anything 'mite killing' on my face. I think it just opens up your pores more so the stuff gets down into your skin. I could be wrong, but I think it works.

I also have been putting peppermint oil on my face, straight-up. It burns like hell but I'm hoping that means it'll kill these nasty things.

Also, have you purchased any sulfur ointment yet? It really does dry up the zits I do have...not so much "dry" them up, but it's like it pulls the pus and gunk out of them so they heal faster.

Yeah, the Bentonite doesn't work so well. I don't know why it doesn't. It seems to me that the stuff pulls everything else out of your body...why wouldn't it pull out mites and their eggs? Weird.

Hang in there, my sister. We'll get there. It's just gonna take a little longer than we'd like. XOXOXOXO
