Re: IP6 & teeth sensitivity. Causes? Preventions?
You need to provide more information...
>>"I've been taking IP6 (1gr + 500mg extra Inositol + SeMC daily for 3 days) and today felt that some of my teeth have become sensitive to food."<<
Why are you taking IP6?
What foods do you eat? Think about everything.
What are all of the other supplements and daily herbals\spices that you use?
>>"So I wonder why it can happen and how we can deal with it by supplementing something else?"<<
iron, as well as other mineral deficiencies, imbalances or excesses can affect tooth health and coloration.
Some foods interfere greatly with mineral absorption, others will chelate free forms of them, while still others will increase their absorption and utilization.
For instance gluten containing grains, coffee and alcohol can greatly inhibit the absorption and utilization of minerals... specifically iron.
In fact, celiacs (gluten sensitive individuals) can and do become more gluten tolerant when going gluten free because a gluten free diet increases absorption of iron... when they correct their iron deficiencies... most gluten intolerant people tend to be able to tolerate gluten again.
Tooth whitening products are also well known for causing tooth sensitivity...
Have you ever done this... ever?
>>"BTW I've also started taking
Lugol several days ago (just 2 drops a day, 6.3mg per drop). Though don't think it's
Lugol that causes sensitivity..."<<
More than a few people have had joint, and\or bone pain after taking iodine...
Could be your combination of *supplements*, along with your current diet and lifestyle, are causing your problems.
I am not asking you to answer these questions for anyone but yourself.
Stop all supplements... and see what happens. If things clear up in one to four weeks... one, or any combination of the supplements you were taking, are causing your issues.
If they do not clear up... perhaps something you are eating, or a combination of foods you are eating are causing the problems.
*supplements* can be used in relatively low doses as a preventive, however, they can also be used in the *right forms* and in the *right doses* as *medicines* for specific conditions, and should only be used when, and if, the user knows all of their actions, side effects, and contraindications.
Most people do not delve into their supplements to that degree. I know an individual who goes to a naturopath and has gone round and round for several years, with no *real* apparent improvement in his health... he is gluten intolerant - possible celiac... I gave him some desiccated beef liver, which he seemed scared to death to take because his *naturopath* wasn't consulted first (he does not make his own decisions) - one dose - and he felt *noticeably* better for a few days, feeling best the day after he took them, then he faded back into his *bad* condition.
He then went to his naturopath who reamed him for listening to me... and he still feels like crap.
I guess *I* am not the *expert* his naturopath is.
BTW - he spends about $500 a month on supplements; most from his naturopaths office - repeat customers are good.
The very best way to get your nutrition is through foods... If this guy would eat a good, organic, grass fed beef or buffalo liver once a week, or more to start out with, he would likely not need his naturopath.
