plan complete - a big thank you!

Hi Dr. McCombs and other readers,
I wanted to post an update now that I've completed the McCombs plan. For two years, I tried threelac, caprylic acid, and other health store tinctures to help clear the candida (along with diet), but I was never able to get off the diet. The cycle of die off (and/or food allergies) kept my poor body constantly fighting and never resting. I lost hope of recovery.

A few months back, I came across Dr. McCombs's site and thought it might be a good idea. The testimonials were compelling, and it sounded like people were actually having success after completing the plan. So I took the risk and bought the first month's supply. Although it seemed expensive at the time, I'd already dropped WAY more money on threelac and other supplements over the years.

At first, I started going to the gym and using the sauna there, but it got to be too time consuming to drive there and warm it up, so I bought one of the portable far-infrared saunas. Whether or not they are actually legit infrared, I don't care - it works like a charm for making me sweat.

Over the course of the plan, I hit some bumps in the road, like with fruit and brown rice - but I consulted Dr. McCombs, listened to my body, and stayed away from whatever made me feel uncomfortable. Thanks to the Q & A here, I was able to get to the bottom of some underlying issues, like hypoglycemia/insulin resistance and food intolerances.

I'm in week 17, and I've even eaten a bagel and some sweetened foods...something I haven't done without major consequence in the last two years. This is what I notice:
When I used to eat sweet things (any kind of carb or sugar), I'd want to eat more and more and more of it in that one sitting. Yet, now, I'm content to have a bite or two. My mind rationally looks at the food and thinks, "Hm, that would taste good" instead of "Give me that sweet food NOW." Also, the mind-numbing brain fog, buzzed feeling, and sinus/ear congestion (clicking noise in my ears) that used to accompany eating sweets is now gone. Even two months ago, my boyfriend commented on how much I had changed. Without a doubt, I'm not the person I was a year ago, even four months ago. He specifically pointed out two things - how much more present I was to him and others and also how much more freely I carried myself (with confidence). We all know there's a major emotional component to candida, but how badly does it affect us? I had no idea.

I've been eating wheat for a week or two now and am still gauging how my body feels about it, but, thanks to the structured reintroduction of food into the diet, I can now narrow my difficulties down to either nuts or wheat. Something gives me joint pain, but it should be easy enough to distinguish between the two.

So, all in all, I'm thankful to you, Dr. McCombs, for your help and diet plan. I knew it would help me when I came across it (an answered prayer), but I wasn't sure if I'd really be ok. I trusted it, and it worked. Now that the yeast is definitely in check, I can work on figuring out the underlying immune issues (possible heavy metals, adrenal fatigue, hypoglycemia, food intolerances).

Best wishes to you all on your journey to health. I'm thankful to not have to wonder if I'll beat this beast, since I now know that I can. Thank you!!!
