Thanks! Follow-up questions
Thanks, Wiel!
About the ES, I`ve imported it and brought it over from Canada, because it doesn`t appear to be for sale to the average consumer in this country. I use it with liver flushes, and I add 1/4 tsp to every 2-liter bottle of water (along with 1/4 tsp unrefined
Sea Salt ) that I drink during the day. Glad to hear I`m doing something right.
Your answers are reassuring. They have led to new questions - hope you don`t mind helping out a little more.
I`ll ask my organic supplier about powdered kelp and similar powders. I can get the whole food forms easily enough. There are many powders in the drugstores here, but the thing to watch out for are additives. With this caution in mind, I can`t read Japanese well enough to buy drugstore green powders for drinks. I`ll try your suggestion and ask my organic supplier if he has anything.
I`ve ordered some superfood powders online, and it`s these I had in mind. I`m a little confused about the mixture of vegetables and fruits. Details to follow.
I`ve had good results with food combining. I try to avoid eating heavy starches with meats, I eat vegetables with both, and I try to consume fruits alone. I prefer to eat the whole food form, raw when I can. I find that when I follow this simple plan, digestion is relatively rapid and seems to be efficient. If I mess up, digestion slows down and I don`t get the BMs matching the food intake - some is not eliminated, or at least, not within 24 hours. Plus I`ve noticed all the uncomfortable effects of having food moving through the system more slowly than is optimal, when I don`t combine foods as described.
I avoid dairy because of mucus issues. I avoid gluten because both my parents developed Diabetes II later in life, predisposing me to do the same, and my sister was recently diagnosed to have a severe gluten intolerance problem. I think I might have a mild intolerance problem, but I haven`t taken the test yet. Just to be on the safe side, I avoid both these food groups most of the time. My gallbladder was removed in my 20s after a long battle with gallstones, so my pancreas and small intestine are under additional strain for life, and I have to be careful about what I eat or I become sick - as I experienced last year.
Back to my original question, many of the superfoods, particularly the berry and fruit superfoods, also include vegetables in their formulas. Would that not make the drinks harder to digest? I read online that one person, who mainly consumes a strict raw vegetarian - mostly raw vegan - diet says that this combination, fruit with vegetable superfood powders, can be digested if you chew the drinks until the drink turns sweet. At that point, enzymes in the saliva have digested the sugars, which is a major part of digestion, and thus allows these foods to be digested well when combined. What do you think?
Furthermore, since most fruits tend to be acidifying while most green vegetables tend to be alkalizying, wouldn`t the combination of these foods defeat the purpose of trying to alkalyse the body? I want to not just have the pH levels rise to healthier levels in the next few weeks, but to build up a good storage of buffering nutrients for proactive health management.
It would be great if I could take superfood powders to work with me, to mix with whatever juice I can obtain at that time or just with water, as otherwise it`s difficult to stick to a healthy diet. So your answer is of great interest to me.
One more question: What is the difference between minerals (such as calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium), and electrolytes? Are they the same, just viewed from different perspectives? Is there any difference in pH adjustment using alkalizing drinks versus trace mineral/ionic mineral/electrolyte drops?
Thanks for all the great information!
