I suspect that the so-called friend needs to grow a spine. She doesn't have the courage to disassociate herself from the perv who attacked her friend. Also, she's probably scared out of her wits now that the police are involved.

Of course the right thing for the so-called friend to have done was to apologize to your GF for having invited the perv in the first place. The right thing, also, would have been for the so-called friend to let your GF know that so-called friend is cooperating fully with the police investigation.

BTW, you both did the right thing by contacting the police. If this perv behaved that way towards your GF, then chances are that he has behaved this way before and no doubt, would have continued doing so. So, look at it this way---you may well have spared another woman from having to go through what your GF went through.

As for the so-called friend---this horrible experience exposed so-called friend's true colors. In an odd way, she did your GF a favor---she let your GF know that she isn't a true friend.

So...consider so-called friend to be history. I'm sure it's hurtful for your GF to not only have been attacked but have her "friend" bail out on her, instead of being supportive.

In the meantime, I suggest that your GF (if she hasn't done so already) call the Rape Crisis Hotline: 1-800-656-HOPE. The person on the other end of the line can help arrange for her to get some counseling.

Once again, bravo to both of you for reporting this to the police!
