Solar and wind in a country like Australia, could conceivably power the whole country, particulary in rural areas, and the smaller towns.
Even in cities, people who already have solar power, are feeding excess power back into the main grid, and are getting paid for it. This is something that could potentially be a huge incentive, actually making money out of putting in a solar power system.
Wave and tidal power are also big generators of energy, and when you think about how many cities are on major rivers and on the coast, this is also a potentially huge source of renewable energy.
There is a saying, "from little things big things grow", and when a lot of people make little changes, this can make a big impact on the demand for fossil fuels. IMO its a matter of thinking differently, my Mum used to say, "change your thinking and your world will change" and she was right :)
