Re: Hi! I'm new to fasting, Please send any tips? Thanks! Day 1 of 16

Hi thank you for all the great tips/info i really appreciate you taking the time to send them to me.

1 I have actually been vegetarian for the past 10 yrs (3 of which were full vegan) & had nutritional classes in college, so i'm not exactly new to nutrition-i know whats good for you, whats bad for you. over the past several months the majority of my diet has been almost exclusively lots of fruits and veg. salads, smoothies, diet mountain dew. so if you wonder how i got fat-
i have a few culprits-
kraft salad dressing, its only 40 cal/serv but loaded w/sodium and processed ingredients.
also, i can't seem to go a day w/out having 2-3bananas with 1 T penut butter, and 1pack of reces peices. or a Sugar free choc candy bar.
and Dariy
i have about 1 1/2 cups of skim milk a day in as smoothie. i'm addicted to Parmesan Romono reduced fat cheese topping-it has tons of sodium. and i put it on everything! it isn't just a topping to me, it's more like a whole food group!
lately i have gotten into the habit of ice cream 1serv of reg/light or 2-3 serv of no Sugar added/fat free ice cream.

2 I'm just new to fasting. and i never said what i was doing was healthy. or fasting w/allowing other liquids..

I will try to just do water as much as i can. if i can make it to all water that would be great! i will have to read up a little more on the keotosis thing.. it has always i kinda confused me.

3 i do love all the fresh food from our farm-summer is the best time to be here to take advantage of it's sweet rewards. i hate to let it go to waste. so i think i'll just try to freeze as much as possible

4 on breaking the fast, how do you get the proportions for consuming phosphorus, magnesium, and potassium after a fast in proportion to the amount of carbs you consume in order to prevent re-feeding syndrome?

5. i already know that i can not follow the standard wt loss plan that the docs/fda recommends. 1200 is the most i can have now with 2-3hrs of workout/day and the scale doesn't budge.i don't lose anything it just stays the same.

6. Thanks for the water warning!

7. Thanks for the input of the wt loss goal. i have allowed a few extra days that i can extend the fast if i need to lose a few more lbs.
but i'm a little worried about breaking the fast-how i'm going to plan to do it will take some thought!

I agree, it can be tough, but it will all be worth it! Congratulations on your day 23! that's amazing! that and everyone's input really motivates me to keep going!

thanks again! and best of luck to you and your fasting :)
