Re: Ox bile? How do they get it?

Ox bile sounds gross, but it works?

Yes it works. But I don't think they really use oxen as the source anymore but rather regular cattle gallbladders.

SO, shouldn't everyone take it prophetically?

It would be better to increase your own bile levels in the gallbladder provided the gallbladder is still present. This is done with fiber, lecithin and bitters.

If someone wants to avoid gallstones it also helps a lot to avoid hormone therapies with estrogens or progesterone, including progesterone creams. These contribute to gallstone formation.

Should someone without a gal bladder avoid all bitter herbs and things then?

Yes, they should be avoided if there is no gallbladder. The problem is that without a gallbladder the bile will just dump in to the intestines burning the intestinal walls. This leads to diarrhea and increases the risk of intestinal cancer, which is already raised from the gallbladder removal.
