Every person that I've known with blue eyes have had problems with bright lights causing squinting. You can still get the healthy effect of sunlight through closed eyes (while sunbathing). I'm guessing that you'll probably be more comfortable with sunglasses in the bright sunlight. They probably don't need to be dark-dark, just a little bit of tinting.
