Re: Vitamin D fights Crohn's Disease

it depends on what you mean by helped. I felt better for years taking cod liver oil. cleared up my skin issues and made my allergies better. went on for years, until it stopped working. back then I didn't understand the mechanism, and just figured that I became allergic to cod liver oil. not so. my VDR's were partially blocked, and taking the vitamin d basically acted as a stertoid, suppressing the immune system and thereby alleviating my symptoms. the price I paid was very high, it allowed l form bacteria to overrun my immune system. in other words, if help means a temporary improvement in symptoms because you are preventing the immune system from attacking a slow but stealthy pathogen, then it isn't worth it. better off fixing your immune system and letting it do its job.
