Re: Tincture, decoction, infusion advice needed
Are you suggesting that if taken with TMG, etc., powdered herbs are not only stronger than parts, but more potent than tinctures, decoctions, infusions, etc.?
Tinctures are not necessarily stronger to begin with. It will concentrate some of the compounds in the plant because the beneficial fiber is being removed, so it just takes up less volume. In other words a dose of tincture will occupy around a quarter of a teaspoon. If you take a half a teaspoon of the herbal powder though you are going to get the same amount if not more of the active components while still getting the beneficial fiber and other insolubles without the alcohol and without altering the chemistry of the plant compounds.
Regardless a solvent of some type will be needed to extract the herbs whether you tincture them or swallow them as powders. When you swallow the powders the solvents are primarily water and stomach acid. TMG though is also very solvent and will also help with the extraction of substances from the herbs and you will still retain the beneficial fibers and other insolubles that you will lose with tincturing.
