>>"No other deity is dashed to pieces like Jesus is."<<
You refer to Jesus as a deity... this is debated even among Christians of different sects.
Other such religious figures are dashed to pieces as well in other parts of the world... your social circle is your experience, however not necessarily true everywhere... or outside of your social experience/life.
Perhaps from your world view/perspective this is true though... and should be respected as such.
Part of that feeling is very likely due to the ever increasing population in the U.S., of those who believe otherwise - many refugees of many different faiths have been brought here since the Vietnam war... many others have immigrated to escape oppression... including Middle East Muslims both Sunni and Shia along with their various branches. Since Christianity was (may still be) the dominant religion here for so long... I am sure that this population shift has made many Christians uncomfortable to the point of feeling threatened; thus the intolerance of non-Christians, by Christians, has reared its very ugly head.
It shouldn't be that way...
Neither should a Christian try to convert, or argue with another of a different belief system... we should all respect one another's beliefs... see the parallels, and perhaps learn from one another.
The problem here in part, as I see it, is that far too many people of one faith or another are full of doubt - they lack a strong faith... and that doubt, when stirred by another's views, if different, threatens their belief, exploits the doubt... and then all irrational, emotional heck breaks loose.
The "votes" in this thread and other religious
Debate Forums are a small reflection of that doubt... and fear (read on).
It shouldn't be that way...
Another huge issue here, is that people in general, fear the unknown, and/or what they do not understand... it is a Christian's responsibility as a Christian, to face that fear, learn, and come to understand that which they fear... the fear will then fade away, at the same time, they will find themselves building an even stronger faith.
"God" gave man free will... if man is free to believe as he wishes - a "gift" given to him from God... who is a "Christian" to deny the right of another to believe as they wish?
Who is a "Christian" to deny the right of "free will" to another?
Are they taking it upon themselves to usurp God?
Doesn't that deny their faith? Isn't that a "sin?
