Re: Experts Please Reply: What is the best Vitamin C to Buy .....
I agree with DJ. Buy real fruit-based products as your source of C.
I says this as somebody who was once (for nearly 20 years) an advocate and believer in Pauling's theory and regular mega-doses of fabricated C. In the past couple years, after learning a little about the fundamentals of foods as medicine, plus learning a bit about how some of the really big corporate regulatory bodies decide (like USP), officially, what is what when it comes to content of food and drugs and supplements, I have done an about face on this. One thing that really helped to sway my mind was watching the
Richard Schulze video segment wherein he explains that as far as USP is concerned, if a food substance can be shown to have a given molecular structure, they don't care if the source of the "food" is animal excrement or natural leaf/fruit, to them its all the same. This is what allows big agri, big pharma an corporate supplement/vitamin industry to take morbid material, like animal guts, blast it with some kind of process (hydrogenatoin is a popular one), and then deem the result as "food!.....MMMMmmm good" jus because the result has a molecular structure similar to a real, actual, wholesome food product.
Suffice it to say that when it comes to nutrition and the benefits therein, I no longer beleive the theory that "molecularly the same" is the same between a product made in a big coporate factory (like many supplements), versus a product derived from the real plant thing.
If you are looking to buy products that contain concentrated amounts of vitamin C, you might look into Gary Null. It's been a few years but I seem to recall that he once promoted powdered Vitaman C products that were derived from real actual fruits.
