Re: Mentally abusive wife

Well...waking you up when you need your sleep and doing it on a regular basis, is abusive. Also, preventing you from seeing your friends is abusive. Abusers do the latter as a way to isolate their spouses/SOs from others.

So...you have two options:
1) Stay with her and put up with this BS. If you do choose this option, then ask yourself, just what is the pay off for you?

2) File for divorce and ask for custody of your child. Divorce is not a step to be taken lightly, of course, but no one should have to put up with abuse and no child should have to grow up in that environment.

If you truly want to leave, then get a good lawyer. Start documenting the abusive things she does to you. Also, don't use the excuse that she keeps unpacking your things so you can't leave. If you have to rent a storage facility and gradually move your belongings into it bit by bit, then do so.

In the end, it's all up to you. You say she doesn't want to go for counseling. Will she at least go for a physical check-up? If you can get her to make an appointment, call the doctor's office and tell them about her behavior. Obviously due to confidentiality laws, the doctor's office won't be able to share the results of her physical with you but at least by calling them, you will have given them a heads up regarding her behavior.
